The Minor Thirds

Listen to some music

Houston

Off our shiniest album, Nebraska From Afar! Horns, ad hoc gospel choirs, and prayers for the end days to come to save you from awkward romantic situations.

The Thieves' Guild

The first song off Dishwasher Thief sets it all up: Come on this crime spree with me, because I care about you. It will all go well, oh yes it will. Oh yes.

Your Eyes Will Adjust

Our "Farewell to Portland" EP. Not an unrelenting downer. Featuring no acoustic guitar whatsoever.

(Let's Not) Get It On

The song that started it all. The hit single off The Zealot's Curse, all frantic and hissy and filled with blips and bleeps.

Moose Jaw

More raucousness. This time, the hit single off Saskatchewan (which you can download in its entirety at that link), with chaotic guitars and beefy trumpets. The video is on YouTube.

Annus Horribilis

There's a contest of sorts called National Solo Album Month where you have a month to write and record an album from scratch. We did it in three hours, from 5:15 to 8:15 the night of November 30, 2006. The whole album is here; it's not too bad for an album written and recorded entirely in three hours, I think.

Things Burn

This 2003 EP has been out of print for a while, so we're putting it all online:

The Revolutionary's Love Song Something a little less frantic and a little more wordy. This one gets all Leonard Cohen on your ass. It features a game of poker and some urban planning.

Meat Shower Charlotte sings this little song (from the TV show "Between The Lions") about meat. Recorded live at KUCI.

Casuistry This is a live version of an enigmatic little song off The Zealot's Curse. Recorded live at KUCI.

Fall Cats and squirrels and leaves.

The Angel's Revenge

This is our old live sound, when it was just Chris and Charlotte, from Live At Tape Mountain HQ. Revenge fantasies ahoy!

I'm Staying Home!

Beedle-eedle-eedle-eedle-eep. Casios, vitriol, and lethargy all combine for the hit off A Desperate Drama About Faith In These The End Days.

The Thousand Nights And One Night

Charlotte and Chris sing together about all-pervading frustration, which basically sums up The Zealot's Curse.

Salt Lake City demo

The demo version of another song about another city. This version was recorded, I think, the day after it was written; it's just Chris and his guitar. This song appears (in a new recording) on Nebraska From Afar.

Alex P. Keaton, Perched Precariously Atop A Ladder, Suddenly And For No Particular Reason Tries To Remember His First Girlfriend's Middle Name

We recorded this song a long time ago, for a maxi-single that never got finished. This is still one of my favorite tM3 recordings, and since it looks like it will never see the light of day otherwise, here it is. If you've been reading the website and wondering how this elaborately named song went, well, now you will know.

Houston, live video, exceprt

This is about 13 seconds of live footage of us performing Houston at a house party in Seattle. Just a little clip! With special guest Anne from luv[sic] on drum. This song appears on Nebraska From Afar.
